PLANET NEPAL: Joining hands in initiative

"Planet Nepal is a multidisciplinary festival conceived and initiated by Alliance Française to raise awareness for climate change. The festival is a creative mix of music and the arts in one part, and scientific roundtable discussions as another component, to promote this awareness among Nepalese and French audiences and is Alliance Française’s first practical action to be an active actor in the issue of climate change."

It is evident that the festival that took place from 29th October to 31st October, 2010, highlighted the issues of Climate Change through various interaction programs, workshops, street plays. musical shows and so on. One of the contexts of the festival was a 'Scientific round-table discussion', where experts and specialists of Climate sector got together to discuss on various scientific-social aspect of climate change.

Green Ventures was invited by ICIMOD and Planet Nepal to participate on the third day of the Scientific discourse revolving around Carbon Trading.

The turn out was impressive, given the fact that only few people in Nepal know about Carbon trading. Mr. Tom Broadbent, Shristi Singh Shrestha and Laxmi Thagunna attended the seminar. Mr. Broadbent also was one of the panelists, who strived to answer the questions about Carbon Trading and forwarded the modalities of Green Ventures.

Overall the program was a fruitful one with the arrival of many people from various sectors of the environmental and government areas. This seminar provided a platform for Green Ventures to understand the perception of common public and to inscribe its own understanding of Carbon Trading in a holistic outlook.
